Gender responsive budgeting and breastfeeding policies: insights from the Asia-Pacific region

Global progress in improving infant and young child feeding practices has been hindered by a lack of funding of national breastfeeding policies and there are renewed calls at the international level to address funding gaps. In parallel, some thirty countries in the Asia-Pacific region have taken steps to link gender equality and economic policies. This public seminar is a unique opportunity to highlight the progress on breastfeeding policies and associated funding across the region. It will explore how these experiences can be enhanced by efforts to improve gender equality and women’s economic security through fiscal and economic policy. This event is hosted by the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute (TTPI) and School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) at The Australian National University, and is supported by the ANU College of the Asia and the Pacific, the ANU Gender Institute and Australian Research Council.
